The new college football playoff format that expands to 12 teams starting in 2024 will be in the new college football video game made by EA Sports.
The last NCAA Football game to be released was NCAA Football 14 all the way back in July 2013.
That game still used the BCS system so officially there will be no college football video game with the 4-team college football playoff we’ve grown accustom to for the past decade.
This news comes via CollegeFootball.gg who went into detail on exactly how the playoff system will work in EA’s College Football 25 game.
The new system will have 4 rounds meaning that it will last at least 4 weeks. It is expected to start in late December and with the championship game taking place in mid/late January.
This new system should make it significantly easier for any major program to compete for a title. 50% of the top 25 teams will get a spot with some priority for conference champions.
EA Sports College Football 25 is expected to be released in Summer 2024 on the XBOX Series X|S and the PlayStation 5.
