MLB 12: The Show Diamond Dynasty Details Slip Out

mlb 12 the show diamond dynasty

MLB 12 The Show community manager Ramone Russell has been hinting at a new feature in this year’s game.  Although he won’t say what it is, we did find a little help today via the amazon listing for MLB 12.  This summary was included in the game description:

Diamond Dynasty – Manage your very own fully customizable MLB
team online. Challenge and beat CPU controlled MLB teams to recruit MLB stars
for your team, and compete against other users customized teams for development
points.
From our perspective, this could be a very hit or miss feature.  If it is done right, it may be one of the best game modes in sports video games.  If  not, it could be a big let down. Do you plan on trying diamond dynasty?

NBA Jam: On Fire Will Receive Roster Updates After All

nba jam on fireOne of the biggest announcements about NBA Jam: On Fire was that it would include roster updates.  The game was released back in October while the NBA lockout was still going on and 3 months later there are still no roster updates and until today no word from EA Sports on the matter.   Prominent media outlets such as Kotaku and PastaPadre as well as many angry customers had requested a response concerning the lack of roster updates. Kotaku received confirmation earlier today that there will in fact be a roster update for NBA Jam: On Fire.

The 2 on 2 arcade game is available for download on the PS3 and the XBOX 360.  There is no official word yet on when the roster update will be coming or how often they will be.  Are you more likely to purchase NBA Jam now that you know there will be roster updates?

4 Most Unusable Teams in Madden NFL 12

madden 13 unusable teams

Every year there are a handful of teams that you never see played with.  In Madden 12 there are 4 teams that stand out as completely unusable.  The only way you will ever see these teams online is if you are playing a hardcore fan or an amazing player testing his skill by using the worst teams.

4. Bills – If you put aside the Bills running backs Fred Jackson and C.J. Spiller you are left with really no usable talent in madden 12.  Steve Johnson, while a good NFL receiver when he is not blaming God for his drops, does not translate well to madden.  It is hard to put Brad Smith at QB unless you want to pick a wildcat play which really limits the Bills offense.  Slow linebackers and safeties leave the defense vulnerable to big plays. On the bright side, you can use Brian Moorman and his 89 speed for some nifty fake punts.

3. Buccaneers – Josh Freeman and LeGarrette Blount suffered big ratings drops this year.  The top offensive skill player other than Kellen Winslow is only an 80 overall.  The Bucs don’t have a running back or wide receiver with any speed which limits their explosiveness on offense.  Their best linebacker is a 77 overall which leaves a huge hole in the middle of the defense.  While the corners are decent, the safeties are too slow and the defensive line isn’t anything special.  The one bright spot is the backup quarterback Josh Johnson.

2. Rams – Steven Jackson and Brandon Lloyd are the only good players on the Rams offense.  However, neither of them have the attributes that translates into dominant madden players which leaves the Rams in a tough spot.  Sam Bradford is stuck at 80 overall and they have no decent tight ends to help him.  On defense, you are limit to just Chris Long and James Laurinaitis but they have 75 and 76 speed respectively which really hurts.  If you play with the Rams you will have a hard time beating anyone.

1. Browns – Taking the Browns to the Super Bowl is harder than ever.  Joe Thomas is a stud but left tacklers don’t matter much in Madden.  Peyton Hillis’ ratings have dropped like a rock since the season started.  Joe Haden is a solid lockdown cornerback, but you can pick on every other member of the secondary.  The Browns best chance of scoring is to line Josh Cribbs up 30 yards behind the line of scrimmage, snap the ball and throw it to him to set up a punt return look.

Are their any other teams that you never see played with?  What teams do you refuse to use?  Let us know by leaving a response in our comments section.

mlb 2k12 perfect game

Justin Verlander made his way onto Conan last night to talk about winning the AL MVP and more importantly MLB 2k12.  Over the last 2 years, fans have been able to submit video recordings of their perfect games in the MLB 2K franchise.  This year the process will be simplified.  Gamers will be able to join a specific game mode where they will receive a unique code once they complete a perfect game.  Instead of picking just one winner, the top 8 contestants will compete in a tournament style competition to take home the $1 million dollar prize.  You will be able to start competing on baseball’s opening day April 4th, 2012.

Madden 12 Roster Update #19

madden 12 calvin johnson

Following a great wild-card weekend in the NFL, this week’s roster update gives significant increases to the winners’ rosters and drops to the losers. The roster update will go live on Friday on both the PlayStation 3 and the XBOX 360.  Even though only players whose teams participated in the playoffs will have a chance to see movement in their ratings this weeks roster update is important because it will reset the depth chart by bringing players that were on injured reserve like Peyton Manning back into the starting lineup.

As expected Tim Tebow and Demaryius Thomas both received a large boost to their attributes along with many Giants, Texans, and Saints players.  Calvin Johnson finally joined the exclusive players rated at 99 overall.  Check out the full roster update below.
