NBA 2K14 Release Date Announced

After months of secrecy, 2K Sports has decided to officially announce the release date for this years basketball video game, NBA 2K14.  Historically, the game comes out during the first week of October, and this year will be no different.  NBA 2K14 will be released on Tuesday October 1st, 2013 according to major retailers such as Amazon.com.

As of today, we know that 2K14 will be on at least the PlayStation 3 and the XBOX 360 consoles as well as the PC.  We expect it to also be on some handheld devices such as the PSP and the Wii U.  There is still no information on the prospects of NBA 2K14 coming to the PlayStation 4 or XBOX 720 later in the year.

At this point, many in the sports gaming media assume that Miami Heat star Lebron James will be on the cover, but at this point it is purely speculation.

More NBA 2K14 news should start to trickle out over the next month or 2 including who will be on the cover and what new features we can expect to see.

EA Sports NCAA 14 News Schedule

Although most of the recent talk around the sports gaming community has been about the first gameplay trailer, there was another tidbit of information coming that was largely overlooked.

The release schedule for what EA Sports is calling, “Playbooks” was posted.  The title, “Playbooks” is just a fancy title for news or information.  It looks like every few weeks from now until July 9th (the release date) we will be getting information piece by piece.  The full schedule is below.

  1. Presentation (to be released 4/18) – NCAA Football 14 gets you closer to the action than ever before and tells the story of every game. Feel the drama of college football from a whole-new perspective.
  2. Ultimate Team (to be released 5/15) – The much-beloved mode comes to the college game, allowing you to build up an unstoppable team.
  3. Dynasty (to be released 5/28) – There’s no single path to success in college football, so build up your program into a powerhouse to fit your strengths and style of play by utilizing the brand-new Coach Skills.
  4. Play a Season (to be released 6/17) – Focus purely on the on-field action and take your favorite team to a bowl game.

NCAA Football 14 Gameplay Trailer

EA Sports has released the first gameplay trailer for NCAA Football 14.  At this point, it is hard to tell whether there are actually significant improvements to NCAA 14 or whether it is just pre-release hype.

The trailer focuses mostly on core gameplay by highlighting the improved physics called Infinity Engine 2.  This is the first edition of the NCAA Football series that will include real physics.  The idea behind the physics engine is that virtual players will have to follow the laws of physics.  This would hypothetically make the gameplay seem more realistic.  The physics engine was in Madden 13 and while it wasn’t as revolutionary as some had hoped, it did add a level of realism to the game the wasn’t there before.

Other notable features highlighted in the video are the improvements being made to the running game.  Gamers will now have the ability to accelerate through a hole.  You will notice a whole new array of juke moves in the video.

EA Sports has also mentioned that run blocking will be improved in NCAA Football 14.  Based on years past, the blocking game could use a whole lot of work.

First NCAA Football 14 Screenshot Unveiled

EA Sports has released the first screenshot for their popular college football video game titled NCAA Football 14.  It features and Oregon Duck player #7 juking an opposing USC Trojans defender #16.

The screenshot, pictured above, doesn’t tell us all that much about the upcoming game.  However, it does signal the start of what should now be constant news, information, and videos coming out of EA Sports’ headquarters detailing what we can expect from NCAA 14.

NCAA Football 14 is still scheduled to come out on July 9th, 2013.  It will be available on both the PlayStation 3 and the XBOX 360.

Denard Robinson Wins NCAA 14 Cover

Former Michigan quarterback Denard Robinson has won the EA Sports NCAA Football 14 cover vote tournament.  Robinson beat out Texas A&M receiver Ryan Swope to land his spot on the cover.

The choice is absolutely the correct one considering how dominant Denard Robinson was on previous NCAA Football video games.  Each of the past 3 years he was easily one of the top 5 players in the game.  Even before Michigan’s recent re-emergence to football prominence, a lot of people would pick the Wolverines simply because their QB, Denard Robinson, was so effective in the game.

The cover vote started with 8 players and lasted a few months.  The cheating scandal in the finals will likely impact the way all future sports game cover votes will be handled.  Now that it has wrapped up, EA Sports has launched their Madden 25 cover tournament which will conclude in late April.

NCAA Football 14 is still scheduled to come out on July 9th of this year on both the XBOX 360 and the PlayStation 3 consoles.  There is still no word on if it will make its way onto future generation consoles like the PS4 or XBOX 720.

The first real news about the NCAA Football franchise traditionally comes out in mid-late March.  Look for some of the major issues from NCAA Football 13 to be addressed.

Madden NFL 25 Cover Tournament Kicks Off

EA Sports’ cover vote for Madden NFL 25 is now underway.  64 NFL past and present NFL stars have the opportunity to grace the cover of this year’s popular NFL simulation video game.  The brackets were sorted into 2 categories with one side being “Old School” with mostly retired players from the past and the otherside being called “New School” with young up and coming stars in the current NFL.

Each team is represented this year with the 49ers getting 3 players in the tournament.  Joe Montana, Jerry Rice, and Colin Kaepernick are the choices that 49er fans have.

The first round of the tournament will take place until March 20th.  Following that, all subsequent rounds will last 1 week with the winner being announced in late April.

Madden 25 is still on schedule to be released on August 27th.  That gives EA Sports 4 months from the cover announcement until the official release date to reveal other news.
