Bo McCready over at Operation Sports put together one of the more interesting articles I have seen in a long time.  He charted the overall rookie ratings between Madden 07 and Madden 12 and found a staggering difference.  As a long time player of football video games, I too had noticed a downward trend in player ratings that rookies enter the game with.

He finds that the average overall rating for first round rookies in Madden 07 was an 81.44 while in Madden 12 that number dropped to 76.44.  In that context it looks like rookies should have less of an impact in current Madden NFL games than in the past.  But when he digs into the details a little more, he finds that the average first rounder in Madden 07 was the 40th best player at his position while in Madden 12 the average first rounder was the 42nd best player.

So while it may seem like the overall rookie ratings continue to trend down each year, it is not as significant as people make it out to be.  Check out the full article over at Operation Sports.

When it comes to Madden 13 one thing is for certain:  EA Sports is making every effort to make the game look and sound the same as the NFL does on Sundays.  We just got the news that there will be authentic QB cadences.  There will be Tebowing in Madden 13 as well as Victor Cruz’s salsa dance.  Rob Gronkowski’s signature spike celebration will also be in the game.

Now on to more important things… Let’s make a push to get Marshawn Lynch’s “Hold My Dick” celebration in the game.  Tweet this link to your friends, like it on Facebook, and do anything you can to get the word out that you support getting the celebration into Madden NFL 13.

EA Sports partnered with NFL films to bring authentic QB cadences to Madden NFL 13. 12 out of the 14 quarterbacks whose unique cadences will be in the game were announced earlier today.

Take a minute to watch one of my favorite Sesame Street songs and see if you can guess which one of these quarterbacks doesn’t belong.

Those of you who guessed Tim Tebow are correct!  He is the only backup quarterback on this list and considering they are leaving out over half of the starting QB’s in the league, it seems relatively odd to include him.  There are still 2 quarterbacks that haven’t been announced yet.  Whose cadence do you want to see in Madden 13.  Let us know your thoughts in the comments section.

There has already been plenty of news about the addition of Phil Simms and Jim Nantz to the Madden 13 game.  In today’s Madden NFL 13 playbook the team at EA Sports takes that a little further.  Mark Schlereth interviews audio producer Matt Bialosuknia with an emphasis audio and sound.  There will be brand new sound effects coming from the stands, quarterback cadences, and real hit sound effects.
